About Doug Bartholomew M.S.
I am a licensed mental health counselor with more than 40 years of experience, and everything I do uses state-of-the-art techniques. I started down this career path due to a desire to facilitate change in other peoples' lives. I was inspired by the quote by Paul Watzlawick stating: "The purpose of psychotherapy is to reduce that part of human suffering, which is caused by errors of thinking."
My focus is results-oriented therapy directed toward creating lasting change. I use techniques derived from the Transtheoretical Model and Motivational Interviewing. My goal is to provide results that have lasting effects on people. I work with each client to find out their unique needs, assets, and goals before setting a treatment plan. Then I work in a collaborative manner with each person or couple to meet their goals.
I have been in private practice in Belleuve, Washington, since 1990, treating individuals, couples and families. My book Un-Stuck: Freedom from the Prison of Identity is available on Amazon™.
